I have a site that is almost exclusive use of searches and only a simple search with mysql select. I read that you use an external program, an external program improves both performance as well? What program do you recommend to me that I'm starting.

I use htdig because it indexes whole pages at once. It is like having your private Google. It just searches for words in the pages and returns the pages that contain them.
