The first question is what do you want to do in Gmail?
If you want to retrieve messages in your mailbox, you may want to try this POP3 class instead.
phpclasses.org/pop3class

You do not need to activate IMAP support. POP3 support will do to retrieve the messages in your mailbox. Just follow Gmail help links to find how to do it.

thanks but i need exactly the IMAP system of gmail , and as you know , its disabled by default . but i should activate it with a script .
one of my friends told me it may be possible with your class . can you help me about that ?

No, I think you are confused.
I do not have an IMAP class. I have a POP3 class that you can use to access the Gmail mailboxes.
In any case, what you need to do to enable POP3 support is to go on Gmail "Settings" page, and set the option "Enable POP for all mail" on the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab.

thanx anyway , but i dont think im confused ;)
i have programmed an IMAP system to connect and load email from gmail .
all i need is a script to activate the IMAP setting cause in this system , instead of the user , the script should active/disactive the IMAP setting .
i think i cleared myself ;)
any idea how to do that ?

Oh, I see. That is hard but possible. I suggest that you use Firefox with the Web developer extension to disable Javascript support. Then use the LiveHttpHeaders extension to access Gmail and capture the request headers that are sent to the server while you login and access the options page.
You will likely have to retrieve the intermediate pages that you access to capture the form data and links that you need to reach the page where the IMAP option is switched.
It is a lot of work but it is possible to be done with some time and patience.

can you please give me any sample code to do so ?
i dont know where to begin and how to do that . a sample code with navigate threw forms will be really handy .
and also , is it possible to do so , by your http protocol client class ?

The class comes with several example scripts on how to submit forms like the test_http_post.php .
There is also the yahoo_user_class in the yahoo_user.php script that logs in as an Yahoo user and can execute several actions on behalf of the logged user like exporting the address book or inviting to an Yahoo group.
You may want to take a look at that class to figure how to achieve what you want as a logged Google user.
