grid functions

I am a novice, and am having programmers do work for me.
They tell me external functions cannot be executed from the grid.

From a grid cell, can options be displayed and selected and executed ?
Example:
Click a cell in an input grid in a row labeled junk
The following options are displayed, can be selected and executed and the result displayed in another output grid.
a. find the square root of a number.
b. login in.
c. upload a photo.
etc.

I hope this is understandable.

Well, in principles everything is possible.
Of course the click into a cell can be detected and after that the code could do anything regarding the contents of the cell.
I guess your programmers mean that the grid is not supporting these actions out of the box and they are right in that.
But of course someone could always extend the functionality.
